Yankees new stadium a go
It looks like the New York city council are Yankees fans, as they voted nearly unanimously for a new stadium for the richest team in baseball. The Yankees will pay for a lot of the $800 million stadium - but NY state and city taxpayers will be footing some of the bill as well.
From the NY Times article: "Under the deal, the city would spend at least $138 million to demolish the old stadium, create new parkland to replace the 22 acres being used for the stadium in Macomb's Dam and Mullaly Parks, and to make improvements to other nearby parks. The state's share would be $70 million of the $320 million cost of building four parking garages that could be used by local residents throughout the year; the remainder would come from private developers..."
Still no word of greening the ballpark....

As much as I love the Yankees, I was part of the fight against this crooked deal with New Yorkers for Parks. What really makes me mad is watching union workers from the suburbs come in and demand the project go forward (for jobs),even if it means taking parkland away from the local, african-american/latino population and polluting their neighborhood. Hey, what do the construction workers care, they have backyards. Oh well, onto the lawsuit.

Interesting column from the Daily News: http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/406469p-344083c.html
I think they'll green it. That's how you play real baseball on grass.

The stadium grass will be green. Most of the "new" parks being built after the stadium is completed (3 years) will be covered in fake grass because they are being built on top of parking lots.
