Yeah I think there can be some bias in reporting, especially from the Telegraph.
There does indeed seem to be some favour for socially responsible firms, but it truly does depend on the time-span and variables used in the study, and how those variables were constrcuted (i.e. like a ethical index).
For example, see http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=834486. Now I bet the Telegraph didn't report that!
